Instructions

  • Remember to grease and line your cake pans/ cupcake pans
  • Pour the milk and melted butter into a large mixing bowl (or the bowl for your mixer) with the lemon cake mix. Turn your mixer on low speed for one minute to let everything blend together.

  • Next, set your mixer to low and add in the powdered sugar ½ cup at a time. Once all the sugar has been added, let it mix for 1-2 minutes before adding in 2 tablespoons of hazelnut creamer and 1 drop of Terpinolene. Lastly, mix on low for another 1-2 minutes while scraping down the sides (if mixture looks too dry, add an additional tablespoon of creamer).
  • When the cakes come out of the oven, refrain from icing them for at least one hour so they can cool.
  • Once your cakes have cooled, ice them however you like then garnish with lemon zest or a twisty ribbon. I served mine with some Jack Herer so that my friends could compare for themselves, and we all were amazed by the similarity! I hope you enjoy this recipe!

About Jack Herer Strain

Jack Herer is a marvelous cannabis strain named after Jack Herer, a long-time activist for decriminalization and legalization of the plant. His 1985 book The Emperor Wears No Clothes is still an important piece in modern pro-cannabis arguments. This sativa-dominant hybrid was created by Sensi Seeds in either the 1980s or 90s, and it remains one of the most beloved strains due to its flavor profile. Additionally, several other strains have been birthed from Jack Herer including but not limited to: Jack the Ripper, Jack’s Cleaner, and even themed after Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas – Jack Skellington.

Jack Herer is a well-rounded sativa that contains genetics from Haze, Northern Lights #5, and Shiva Skunk. Users can expect sticky buds with an inviting orange-lemon smell and taste. The high provides both mental clarity and physical relaxation without putting users to sleep. Jack Herer is popular among medical and recreational cannabis users for its appealing flavor and well-rounded effects; it has won nine Cannabis Cup titles. Laboratory tests have shown that Jack Herer flowers contain between 15% and 24% THC.

Jack Herer’s flowers have an unimpressive appearance, with pale to medium green leaves forming in densely-packed buds that are more elongated than rounded. However, the trichome count is very high, making this a very sticky plant to handle.

Jack Herer makes up for its lack of visual appeal with intoxicating scents. When cured and stored properly, the flowers have a deep floral bouquet mixed with hints of orange and lemon zest. If you break open the dense buds, you’ll be assaulted by more citrus scent along with a peppery kick. When burnt, these flowers give off an unexpectedly clean and herbal sage-like smoke. The taste is similarly herbal but also smooth and easy on inhaling.’ What’s more, Jack Herer leaves behind a spicy-floral potpourri odor that lingers long after you’ve stopped smoking it.

Effects

This strain acts quickly, with users feeling a strong headrush that is energizing rather than disorienting. As time goes on, or more of the strain is consumed, this initial tingle spreads down the neck and through the limbs, creating a sense of relaxation without immobilizing. This is followed by an alert and easily suggestible high marked by creativity. Jack Herer is particularly good for creative brainstorming and visualization in social settings due to its ease-inducing and creativity-boosting properties.

Jack Herer is a dual-action strain that provides relaxation and stimulation for the mind and body. Users report feeling mellow and in control of their actions, making it good for treating low-grade stress, anxiety, and depression. Some users have also described relief from migraines after using Jack Herer. Jack Herer is helpful for chronic pain but not as much so for insomnia because it can cause users to be more alert. Best used during the day, Jack Herer could be considered an ideal “wake and bake” strain.

Growing

There are four distinct phenotypes of Jack Herer, two that incline towards indica and two leaning more sativa, as described by Sensi. If you’re an outdoor grower, look for a climate with similar conditions to the Mediterranean; daily temperatures should be between 72-80℉. Keep in mind that if certain conditions are met, your Jack Herer plant could reach heights up to 8 feet! Conversely, indoor growers should focus on topping their plants and forcing them into flowering soon after they take root to prevent height issues down the line.

Jack Herer typically has a below average yield. When grown indoors, it flowers within 10 weeks and is ready for harvest in late October.

Jack Herer is perfect for those new to smoking cannabis because its high provides a socializing effect while still allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings. This strain gives off a rich floral scent that will surely turn heads, so be prepared to either start up conversations or attract unwanted attention depending on the situation.
